Kaizer Chiefs get cold feet over one of Nabi’s desired signings

Kaizer Chiefs won’t pursue a deal for Angolan full-back Anderson Cruz even though Nabi recommended they do a deal.

Chiefs walk away from deal for one of Nabi’s targets

According to FarPost intel, Kaizer Chiefs have ruled out a move for Petro de Luanda left-back Anderson Cruz. He was earmarked as a natural replacement for the outgoing Sifiso Hlanti whose contract has expired. The Amakhosi board have allegedly cut the chord on a deal for Cruz because of his wage demands. The 28-year-old would have been available on a free transfer, however.

Orebonye and Mokwana are still targets

Nabi knows striker Tumisang Orebonye well after the pair worked together in Morocco. The 28-year-old striker remains a target for the new boss and has crucial CAF Champions League experience. He’s also available on a free transfer. Meanwhile, Sekhukhune won’t stand in the way of Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana if he wants to leave Babina Noko. Local suitors will have to stump up at least R15 million, and Chiefs have reportedly submitted an offer in the region of R12 million for now.

Amakhosi’s full-back search takes them to Orlando Pirates

Journeyman left-back Bongani Sam is reportedly joining Chiefs from Pirates. Although still only 26, he’s been around the block. Recently spent two seasons out on loan with Swallows after Maritzburg.

As far as incoming go, it’s going to be a busy period for Pirates. According to SoccerLaduma, Orlando Pirates will unveil several new signings before heading to Europe for a pre-season tour. So far, they’ve announced one brand new player; winger Deivi Miguel Vieira aka Gilberto from Petro de Luanda. That publication expects Selaelo Rasebotja, Bayanda Thabethe, Thuso Moleleki and Ethan Visagie to follow suit shortly. The Sea Robbers, who twice got the better of Sundowns in cup competitions last season, embark on a European tour soon. They’ll face Plymouth Argyle, Al Sadd and Sevilla in Spain and Germany. It’s a busy July for Jose Riveiro’s men.

Chiefs jet off for some Turkish delight

Nasreddine Nabi will sign on the dotted line as the new Kaizer Chiefs boss soon. The Glamour Boys jet off to Turkey for a pre-season tour on Thursday, so the new Tunisian boss will only get to take in his surroundings at Naturena once they land back on South African soil. There, they’ll get ready in earnest for a challenging DStv Premiership campaign.
